Fulham
Correctional Centre
Fulham Correctional Centre, located in Sale, first opened in 1997 and is Victoria’s largest regional correctional centre.
Fulham delivers employment, education and vocational training, and offending behaviour, reintegration, faith, cultural and life skills programs to sentenced and unsentenced prisoners.
Fulham is home to another distinctive initiative – its Nalu Community Transition Program. Nalu is a minimum security unit accommodating prisoners preparing for release and who are approved to undertake community-based activities. With a strong focus on community reparation and release planning, Nalu has proven itself highly effective in reducing the risk of reoffending.
Fulham has also developed GATEWAY® – an innovative prison operating system that has been adopted by other Victorian correctional centres. It offers structured case-management processes and effective scheduling and monitoring of activities for each of Fulham’s prisoners. GATEWAY® contributes to successful rehabilitative outcomes for prisoners in our care.
Fulham Correctional Centre has been continually managed by GEO on behalf of Corrections Victoria since opening in 1997.
The centre has received the coveted Victorian Employer of the Year award in recognition of Fulham’s outstanding staff training and development standards.

*NEW: Changes to supply of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) patches
For safety and security reasons, the supply of nicotine patches in prisons will cease from 26 February 2024.
Corrections Victoria and GEO will enhance safety and security in prisons by discontinuing the supply of nicotine patches. Starting from 12 February 2024, nicotine patches will no longer be issued to people entering custody. From 26 February, nicotine patches will also become a prohibited item and visitors will not be allowed to wear patches when they enter prisons.
The changes are being made to help combat the health and safety risks associated with people in prisons misusing the nicotine patches. This reflects our commitment to ensuring the smooth operation of Victorian prisons while prioritising the safety of both prisoners and staff. Recognising the highly addictive nature of nicotine, we aim to facilitate a structured transition period for prisoners, allowing them sufficient time to adjust and access necessary support services.
In response to this change, people in prison dealing with nicotine cravings or withdrawals will retain access to health services and support systems within the prison environment. Additionally, health service providers will maintain the authority to prescribe alternative therapies for managing addiction, in accordance with clinical requirements.
To support a gradual adjustment, prisoners currently using nicotine patches will receive a two-week extension, enabling them to seek medical assistance as they transition away from this form of nicotine delivery.
GEO emphasises its ongoing commitment to the safety and wellbeing of people in prisons and staff.
